THOMAS BURKE
Thomas Burke started TB&O 36 years ago with little more than a passion for photography and a desire to be his own boss. Having graduated with a degree in English Literature, it must have been reading all those Romantics that made opening his own studio seem like more than just a naive and potentially disastrous adventure. Alas, today Tom is revered as one of the senior statesmen of digital photography in the greater Bay Area.
TOM CHANG
Tom is an award winning photographer (most recently with a blue ribbon at the Santa Cruz County Fair). He has appointed himself CMO (Chief Morale Officer) - keeping the crew on edge with practical jokes and his unusual behavior. He has an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and exhibits his fine art photography regularly. Represented by Lisa Dent Gallery in San Francisco and M.Y. Art Prospects in New York City, his fine art deals with the presumptions of photography as truth and the camera's gaze and has earned him a Fulbright among other awards.
CRAIG CHEATHAM
A Photoshop specialist since 1992, Craig renounced the joys of freelancing and joined the TB&O studio in 2004. He has taught Photoshop and digital media classes at U.C. Santa Cruz Extension. He pursues photography of the mountain and desert southwest, though it often eludes him. Combining old and new processes, he is shooting infrared B/W film images and printing digitally on art papers. You can see some of his work here.
JENNIFER DAVOLL
The studio can always count on Jennifer to locate Tom's misplaced cup of coffee. Therefore, she claims job security. Jennifer has also secured her job here with a fine arts degree from UCSC, exceptional Photoshop skills as well as a magnetic personality. Receiving honorable mention at this year's Santa Cruz County Fair led her to realize the importance of her work outside of the studio. Thus Jennifer has produced a line of greeting cards with images taken locally and from her travels. You may find these cards for sale at local stores.
DARRYL FERRUCCI
Darryl has been with the studio since the summer of 1993. He specializes in high-end digital retouching and compositing. Outside the studio, he sometimes freelances in photography, graphic arts, and Photoshop training. He also uses photography as a fine-art medium, and works in a number of other media as well. You can see some of that work here.
CRAIG FRANKLIN
Craig joined the studio in 2005 to help manage the large volume of Motorola cell phone photography. Successfully working with this client in the past led to this current relationship. He has a B.S. degree in Graphic Communications from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and extensive experience in the printing industry.
LESLIE MURRAY
A chance meeting with Jennifer Davoll brought Leslie back to the studio in 2006. In the 1990's she had been our client — art-directing catalog photo shoots. She is a well-regarded digital imaging and design instructor at Cabrillo College and UC Extension, and has art-directed and production-managed a multi-media agency, and several magazines. In her spare time she bakes prize-winning sourdough bread, fly-fishes, and is a documentary photographer and plein air painter.
MEGAN REED
Megan has been with the studio since spring of 2006. She has a BFA in photography from University of California, Santa Cruz. She has worked as a fine art printer, retoucher, and as an assistant to various photographers. When there is time, she also continues to pursue her own photography.
